Horses are made to handle it (so long as you don&#8217;t body clip them). Blankets actually work against the horses natural mechanisms for staying warm.<br />

Warm your horse from the inside out &#8212; High-fiber, low-protein hay is the way to go. When I was a teen working on the ranch in California, my boss (and now good friend of over 30 years) used to tell me stories of their horses in Montana. He said you&#8217;d never see blankets on those horses even in the sub-zero weather, belly deep in snow. I&#8217;ve never forgotten many things I learned from him.<br />
